The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has launched several schemes to promote the installation of solar energy equipment, including the Free Solar Panel Scheme and the Kusum Scheme. Through this scheme, citizens in cities and villages can receive government subsidies for installing solar panels.

Depending on the electrical load of your home, you can choose the appropriate power for your solar system, such as a 3 kW, 4 kW or 5 kW solar system. Government subsidy for solar panels

If you install a 1 kilowatt solar panel, which costs around ₹38,000, the central government provides a subsidy of ₹15,200 and the state government provides ₹15,000. This reduces the cost of your solar energy system by more than half, leaving you with residual costs.

Whereas if you install a 2 kilowatt solar panel, the cost will be around ₹76,000. The central government offers a subsidy of ₹30,400 on this system and the state government offers a subsidy of up to ₹30,000. This brings the total subsidy value to ₹60,400 and they have to pay only ₹16,500.

First, go to the official website of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. Then click “Register here” to apply for the Solar Rooftop Scheme on the homepage. After this, select your state, select your electricity distribution company, enter your electricity consumer number and click “Next”. Then enter your email address and mobile number and click “Send”. Then log in with your mobile number and electricity user number. Then complete the application form with all necessary information. After completing the form, click “Submit” to complete your request.
