IIT Jodhpur has created the cheapest solar charging adapter

With the increasing demand for electric vehicles in India, the lack of charging stations has become a major challenge. Charging infrastructure is even more limited in remote rural areas, which discourages customers from purchasing electric vehicles. Many countries have already installed solar EV chargers in remote areas, for which India still needs to do a lot of work. Under the leadership of Dr. Nishant Kumar from the Department of Electrical Engineering at IIT Jodhpur has developed a new adapter that can charge electric vehicles with electricity from solar panels. This adapter offers the option of charging not only via the electricity grid, but also via solar energy.

According to Dr. Nishant Kumar from IIT Jodhpur has successfully tested this adapter and can be purchased for less than ₹1,000. It can be easily installed anywhere and can be used with any charging vehicle. This makes it a cheap and effective solution for electric vehicle charging in remote areas, allowing you to charge any type of electric vehicle.

According to Dr. Kumar, China, Canada, America, Australia, Russia and many Arab countries are already working on installing pillar-mounted solar panels for emergency charging of electric vehicles. IIT Jodhpur has developed a new sensor-based, low-cost charging adapter designed for maximum efficiency and safety.

Charge an electric vehicle using a solar panel on the pillar

Pillar-top solar panel is a simple charging point that is installed in places where there is sufficient sunlight. It requires a special adapter that converts solar energy into electricity equivalent to the grid, making it a reliable source for charging an EV. IIT Jodhpur has completed all levels of testing for this adapter, including industrial testing. This adapter is now being launched in the market at an affordable price of just ₹1,000.
